Kickoff Ideas

What ideas do you have for motivating your group and encouraging healthy behaviors?

Reminders from Ron before week #1:
  • Weigh Ins - Do your weigh-ins prior to or at your first meeting.  Participants should take off shoes and any heavy clothing.  Allow access to the scale throughout the challenge so that participants can periodically check their weight.
  • Registration - Turn in your list of participants along with the fees that were collected ($20/participant).  Participants should also register on GoogleDocs.  Go to https://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dFV4cEV5bFhiS2tSdHlKZlZwaVd6SEE6MQ
  • Coordinator Stipend/Prize Pot - Site Coordinators will be paid $20/participant up to $300.  The prize pot will equal $10/participant (up to 15 participants) + $20/participant beyond 15.  For example, a group of 20 people would have a prize pot of $250 (15 participants x $10 + 5 participants x $20).
  • Weekly Meetings - Your meetings should only last 30-60 minutes.  See manual for meeting ideas.
  • Resources - There are many resources for your use and your participants.  These documents as well as the participant manual can be downloaded off of the Inside Parkway wellness webpage.  Have participants download and print the manual so that they can bring it to the first meeting.  Go to  http://www.pkwy.k12.mo.us/CandD/CurriculumAreas/PE/SchoolWellnessPage.htm
  • Lose and Win Challenge Activity - Encourage your participants to keep track of their challenge points.  The directions for this and the scoresheet can be downloaded off of the Inside Parkway wellness webpage (see address above).
